User experience tricycle Easy Rider - Ties van der Heijden
My biggest hobby was cycling. Unfortunately, due to my physical problems, I found it increasingly difficult to get off a regular bicycle. I mainly had problems with my stability, especially during a sudden brake application (emergency stop).
Introduction to Van Raam
When I started to find it more and more difficult to cycle on a regular bicycle. I started Googling for a tricycle. I ended up on the Van Raam website. I was then able to find all the information I needed.
On the Van Raam website I saw that there was a possibility to request a free test ride. Although I was aware of this, I did not go to Varsseveld. Through my sister-in-law, she is an ergo therapist, I was able to try out a number of bicycles and models at her work. The Easy Rider was among these bicycle models. I liked this tricycle the best. I then put together the options for the bicycle with my sister-in-law and I purchased the bicycle as a private individual.
The main difference between a bicycle and a tricycle for me is the stability. In addition, it is nice that you can immediately put your feet on the ground and the bike has a seat with more comfort.
Ties van der HeijdenCycling on a tricycle
My Easy Rider tricycle suits me well. The bike feels stable and during an emergency stop I can now remain seated. That's nice. In the beginning I had to get used to cycling on a tricycle, it cycles differently than a bike with two wheels. I think the main difference is the stability. In addition, it is nice that you can immediately put your feet on the ground and the bike has a seat with more comfort.
I use my tricycle to walk the dog, to do groceries and for cycling trips. On average I cycle around 30 kilometers a day. I mainly cycle in 7th gear with the pedal support in setting 1. I can then cycle around 150 kilometers before the battery has to be recharged.
Ordering an adapted bike
Since you cannot order bicycles directly at Van Raam, I went to a local bicycle shop to order my tricycle. This was Rijwielsporthuis Ad van Overveld in Zegge. I must say that I am very satisfied about the contact with this dealer. I have been a customer of Ad for 35 years. At that time I moved to Oud-Gastel and wanted to keep Ad as my bicycle repairman. Fortunately he was also able to deliver the Easy Rider. After waiting about 7 weeks, I got my own Easy Rider tricycle. Delivery went smoothly.
Van Raam e-bike App
During cycling, I also use the Van Raam e-bike App. I mainly use my app to monitor my cycled distances. I do not use other functions. I found out through the website that this app exists. The cycling app works very well!
*This was possible with the old app, but the app has now been updated and cycling information can be viewed and support programms can be changed in the app.
Reactions from other road users on adapted bicycles
I was cycling once and I thought there was a twig under my bike. Then I stopped and I put my bike aside to look. Two cars stopped immediately. The assistance with this tricycle is considerably larger!
