Van Raam produces uniquely special needs bicycles and specializes in tricycles, transport bikes, scooterbikes, wheelchair bikes, tandem bikes, double rider bikes, and low step trough bikes (also known as comfortbikes). Each model is also available as an electric bike (Pedelec).

In April 2018, Martijn Kruisweg and Marnix Kwant of Van Raam went to the Boston area for a week. Here they visited our dealer bike-On in Warwick for, among other things, a presentation by an employee of Harvard University. They were also guests at Healthcare institutions in Portsmouth and they visited bicycle specialists in Boston, Warwick and Providence. Of course, everyone already knew that biking is good for your health and fortunately more and more people are starting to act accordingly. Figures of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management show that the amount of time people spend biking has increased with 12% since 2005. Secretary of state Van Veldhoven (infrastructure and water management) wishes to see this number increase even more. Her goals is to stimulate another 200,000 commuters to take the bicycle instead of the car, which would result in 3 billion extra kilometers ridden by bike.
Over 30 residents from several nursing homes from the Liemers and the Achterhoek went for a bike ride through the hills of Montferland. Here they all biked 10 to 15 kilometers. The event stems from the Dutch bicycle racing championships that were held in the Montferland municipality last year. The oldest employee in the Netherlands has officially retired from his job after 81 years. Friday May 18, 2018 Henk Kluver had his farewell reception where his former colleagues thanked ‘Mr. Kluver’ for the many years he worked at Van Raam. Read the story of his impressive career down below.
Several healthcare institutions in the Netherlands and Belgium have a Fun2Go side-by-side tandem into use since March 2018. Thanks to local campaigns and sponsoring, the financing for these three-wheel tandems has been made possible. Every healthcare institution, including InteraktContour, an institution for people who experience problems because of a brain injury, has its own story. Professional BMX-racer Jelle van Gorkom, who was severely injured during one of his practices in January 2018, is back on a bike. This bike is not his beloved BMX, but the Easy Sport, one of Van Raam’s tricycles.
Three residential care homes in Zwolle (in the eastern part of the Netherlands) received a wheelchair bicycle at the end of April 2018. This wheelchair transport bike VeloPlus was sponsored by the municipality of Zwolle, among others. A City Council Member was present at the festive delivery, where the bike was tested by a resident of one of the centers.
