Ruud Jansen, from Nijmegen climbed the Mont Ventoux on his Van Raam Easy Rider Small tricycle on September 7, 2018. Ruud has two muscle diseases which cause his muscles to slowly deteriorate and he can no longer cycle on a two-wheel bike. He participated in Ventoux3, an event that collects money for research into brain tumors.
Van Raam regularly sees news articles in which our adapted bicycles and their drivers play a leading role. We recently came across an article from the Hoogeveensche Courant (Dutch newspaper) that we definitely want so share with our readers. The article we encountered was about Wolda Fidom from Hoogeveen. Wolda wants to climb Mont Ventoux with her Easy Rider tricycle on 6 September 2019 and thereby raise money for KWF (Dutch Cancer Society) and the Hersenstichting (Dutch foundation dedicated to combat brain disorders). On Wednesday 4 September 2019, Van Raam won the Eurobike Gold Award with her new rickshaw transport bike Chat. The Eurobike Award is one of the leading international design awards for companies in the bicycle industry. New and innovative products are assessed and evaluated by an independent panel of expert judges. The Chat ended in the first place in the category LEV & (E-)Special Purpose Bikes. Our German partner Utopia Velo, manufacturer of high-quality bicycles, has come out as winner in the Extra Energy test 2018 - 2019 with our Silent system pedal support. The company has won 3 of the 13 categories.

There are more and more Van Raam bikes in North America. These adapted bicycles are shipped to North America a few times a year. In North America we have three Van Raam dealers, in Canada there is one Van Raam dealer. In this article we tell more about the Van Raam bikes in North America.
At our bicycle factory in Varsseveld it is possible to try all adapted bicycles from the Van Raam assortment during a free test ride. To help our customers getting to know our adapted bicycles in the best and safe way, Van Raam has designed a bike test track with various traffic obstacles on which customers (together with a technical adviser) learn to get used to cycling on an adapted bicycle. At the end of June 2019, the very first side-by-side tandem drive-in cinema in the Netherlands was organized in the Mediacentrale in Groningen. The organization of the event was in the hands of students and they worked together with employees of Cosis. Dozens of people with a disability watched the movie BFG together on the buddy bike.
Liesbeth Snijder is using her OPair wheelchair bike from Van Raam as taxi in Epe, the Netherlands. She offers a cycling opportunity for people who are no longer able to cycle on their own anymore. Since April 2019, the OPair wheelchair bike has been used to take people from one place to another or for people who just want to take a bike ride.
At Van Raam, manufacturer of special needs bikes, we get more and more demand for electric tandems. Just like with the conventional two-wheel bike, people also want pedal support at the tandems bike.
