In Ouddorp (Zuid-Holland province) in the Netherlands, Van Raam adapted bicycles will be available for rent as of July 1st, 2020. De Bever Verhuur (rental company) offers the bicycles to give people an unforgettable adventure. To introduce people to De Bever and Van Raam’s adapted bicycles, an open house was held on June 6th. In this article you can read more about the new rental location, the open house and the new adapted bicycles at De Bever.
The Van Raam adapted bicycles are widely used, for example in care housing complexes. With the help of these bicycles, it is possible to cycle with the residents and make it easier for them to go outside again. The moment an organisation is receiving the bicycle is almost always very special and festive. This is because it is possible to cycle (again)! In recent times, there also have been satisfied users who have received a Van Raam adapted bicycle. Read more about this in the article. Two different care centres in Belgium use Van Raam's VeloPlus wheelchair bicycle. The employees at day care centre DiMa in Meulebeke use the wheelchair bicycle to visit their 30 different visitors at home and the OLV senior care centre in Bornem has been given a wheelchair bicycle. In Bremen you can now rent adapted bikes from Van Raam. This is as part of the project "Pedder - Freies Spezialrad Bremen". In this article you can find out what the project is, how you can rent bikes for free and which adapted bikes from Van Raam are involved.
Bicycle manufacturer Van Raam has been making special needs bicycles for more than 35 years. These include tricycles, side-by-side tandems, tandems and a mobility scooter bike. The range also includes wheelchair bicycles. With the wheelchair cargo bike VeloPlus you can cycle together with a wheelchair user.
The residential care facility Wissekerke in Bazel (Belgium) recently has an extra special needs bike, which is the Fun2Go duo bike. The residents can already use the VeloPlus wheelchair bike since 2016, but now they also have a duo bike. Volunteer Garry Pieters has been cycling around 120 wheelchair rides a year since 2016. From 2020, it's possible to install a winch system on the VeloPlus wheelchair transport bike as a new option. The winch makes it easier to place the wheelchair on the wheelchair bike. Read more about this new option, the use of the winch and watch an instruction video.
A Van Raam special needs bike usually only comes into the picture when cycling on a conventional two-wheel bike is no longer possible. But what if you are (or someone else is) in a wheelchair and still want to feel the wind in your hair? Then the Van Raam VeloPlus wheelchair bike is the solution! At Van Raam we have several cargo bikes in our assortment, such as the rickshaw bike Chat, the pedicab GoCab and the wheelchair bikes OPair and VeloPlus. De Schauw in Putten (the Netherlands), a residential care facility for the elderly, received a Van Raam VeloPlus wheelchair bicycle sponsored by the local thrift store. This thrift store has existed for 35 years and has therefore held a special fundraising campaign. The festive handover of the wheelchair bike was in September 2018.
