Our special needs bikes regularly attract the attention of well-known Dutch and television programs.
For example former topkeeper and keeper of the Dutch team Edwin van de Sar, singersDo & Hind, TV presenter Johnny de Mol and the in Holland famous Carlo en Irene are already familiar with our bikes.
Our Van Raam bikes are nowadays go around the world, in Europe and far beyond as Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom of Great Britain. Also in Belgium we deliver our bikes, we have multiple dealers in Belgium. On Social media we saw some nice pictures of the presentation of a wheelchairbike in Balen (Antwerp).Â
At the nursing home / residential care centre Ter Vest in Balen they had a great introduction of the VeloPlus wheelchair bike. At the introduction were  former World Champion cyclist Tom Boonen and junior Belgian Champion and participant in the Summer Olympics in Rio 2016 Anisha Vekemans present. That resulted in some nice pictures (see below).Â
Also the Belgian newspaper Gazet van Antwerpen paid attention to the presentation of the wheelchairbike. Coordinator of the project Nathalie van Ginneken told in the newspaper clearly our goal of the wheelchairbike: ‘The bike was very well appreciated by the residents. We have consciously chosen a wheelchair bicycle so that wheelchair users also can enjoy a bike ride. This bike is also easier than the cargo bike’’. Tom Boonen said that he really likes the initiative and is honored to work on this project. He also loved the idea that elderly have more freedom now with the wheelchairbike.

Two different care centres in Belgium use Van Raam's VeloPlus wheelchair bicycle. The employees at day care centre DiMa in Meulebeke use the wheelchair bicycle to visit their 30 different visitors at home and the OLV senior care centre in Bornem has been given a wheelchair bicycle. A Van Raam special needs bike usually only comes into the picture when cycling on a conventional two-wheel bike is no longer possible. But what if you are (or someone else is) in a wheelchair and still want to feel the wind in your hair? Then the Van Raam VeloPlus wheelchair bike is the solution! Wheelchair bikes were taken into use at three care institutions in both the Netherlands and Belgium in the autumn of 2019. Read more about this in the article.
From 2020, it's possible to install a winch system on the VeloPlus wheelchair transport bike as a new option. The winch makes it easier to place the wheelchair on the wheelchair bike. Read more about this new option, the use of the winch and watch an instruction video.
Residential care centre for the elderly Careaz J.W. Andriessen has received a Van Raam VeloPlus wheelchair bike at the end of February 2021. They were able to purchase this wheelchair bike through the program 'Waardigheid en Trots' (Dignity and Pride) of the Dutch Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport.
