Van Raam uses the noiseless and continuously variable Enviolo gear, among other gear systems. Learn more about the Enviolo continuously variable hub gears in this article and video.
Tip:Â Dutch is spoken in this video, so feel free to turn on the subtitles for accompanying text and explanations.
The continuously variable Enviolo gear is a hub gear system that is currently used by Van Raam on the Easy Rider tricycle. With the Enviolo hub gear, you have the possibility to change the gear ratio in every riding situation without having to stop pedalling or backpedalling. Also, the Enviolo hub is continuously and silently adjustable, unlike, for example, an 8-speed hub where you hear a click.Â
The Enviolo hub gear continuously offers many advantages and riding characteristics. The big advantage of an Enviolo hub is that you are no longer limited in your choice of gears. Because the hub gears are continuously variable. You no longer click, but simply keep turning, like a volume control on your radio, until you find the ideal position for your cycling cadence. So you are no longer limited in your choice of gears
Other advantages are:
Turn the handle towards you: Pedalling becomes harder
Turn the handle away from you: Pedalling becomes easier
For example, if you turn the handle towards you, you will find that pedalling becomes harder; if you turn the handle away from you, you will find that pedalling becomes easier. The Enviolo hub can only be used when cycling. So remember, when you are at a traffic light, to move the gear shift to an easy position so that you can start cycling more easily.
If you forget to set the position to a light setting and you have the Van Raam pedal assist, you can use the starting aid. Read more about the starting aid on the Van Raam pedal support page.
The Enviolo continuously variable hub gear is suitable for people with an Easy Rider 3 tricycle. Please note: This hub gear is currently not suitable for the Easy Rider tricycle 2 or for any other Van Raam bicycle.
