The staff of bicycle manufacturer Van Raam bid a festive farewell to directors Marjolein Boezel and Ronald Ruesink last December 2024. After decades of dedication to the growth and innovation of Van Raam, they officially handed over the reins to their successors as of January 1, 2025. Marjolein and Ronald have now chosen to focus on family and leisure, but remain connected to the company as shareholders, ambassadors, and advisors.

More than 30 years at Van Raam

Marjolein Boezel and her brother-in-law Ronald Ruesink are inextricably linked to the history of Van Raam. Ronald started at Van Raam in 1991, and Marjolein joined in 1993. In 2001, they, along with Marjolein's brother Jan-Willem Boezel, took over the family business from their father (in-law) Piet Boezel. Under their leadership, Van Raam grew from a small family business into a large international manufacturer of innovative custom bicycles.

Their legacy includes groundbreaking solutions, such as the first wheelchair bike and the popular duo bike. Thanks to their vision and dedication, Van Raam has become a leading player in the market. Now, Marjolein and Ronald are making room for family, leisure, and new personal challenges.

It's wonderful how Van Raam has grown from a small family business into an international bicycle manufacturer, while staying true to our core values. The most beautiful aspect remains that we change lives by giving people back their mobility and happiness.

Festive farewell with staff and family

Marjolein and Ronald preferred a modest farewell, but a special surprise was organized for them nonetheless. The farewell took place during the last quarterly meeting of 2024, with all Van Raam employees and family members of Marjolein and Ronald. As a memento, they received, among other things, a Van Raam timeline, which has been given a special place within the company. The farewell was informal and festive, marked by gratitude for their years of commitment and dedication.

The farewell was just like the culture at Van Raam: respectful, warm, loving, with a great sense of humor. Work hard, learn hard, and of course, play hard!

Continued involvement and new management

Marjolein and Ronald have stepped down as directors but remain involved with Van Raam as shareholders. Their experience and knowledge continue to be a valuable source of advice for the company. Jan-Willem Boezel remains active in the management and, together with the new management team, will continue the success of Van Raam.

The succession has been carefully prepared for some time now. The management of Van Raam is now formed by a core team of three directors, who are responsible for the overall leadership and strategic direction of the company:

  • Jan-Willem Boezel (CEO)

  • Gerwin Sieders (CCO)

  • Robert Lamain (CFO)

Additionally, the management team includes specialized directors responsible for domains such as operations, business development, information management, HR, and product management.

Future outlook for Van Raam

With the new management and the collaboration with investment company Armira, Van Raam looks to the future with confidence. The foundation laid by Marjolein, Ronald, and Jan-Willem provides a solid basis for further growth.

Van Raam remains committed to providing people worldwide with mobility and freedom through innovative bicycle solutions.
