Anti-tipping wheels on the Easy Rider Compact tricycle
The Van Raam Easy Rider Compact tricycle has standard anti-tipping wheels at the back of the frame. Are you curious why these wheels are on the Easy Rider Compact? You'll find out in this article.
Video: Anti-tipping wheels on the Easy Rider Compact
In the video below, we show more of the anti-tipping wheels on the Easy Rider Compact.
Why does the Easy Rider Compact have anti-tipping wheels?
Because of the compact construction of the Easy Rider Compact, the driver and bike's centre of gravity is close to the rear axle. If you are cycling backwards with the Easy Rider Compact on a steep slope (up to 10%) and you suddenly brake, the tricycle could tip over. Thanks to the anti-tipping wheels, which are standard on the Easy Rider Compact, you won't tip over.
In normal use, on flat road surfaces, you won't tip over backwards.
Safety measures for cycling on a slope
The Easy Rider Compact and all other Van Raam tricycles are designed for normal use on solid and level surface. The following safety measures for cycling on a slope must be strictly followed:
It is not recommended to cycle on a slope steeper than 10%, this carries an increased risk.
It is recommended to drive slowly on slopes.
If you stopped on a slope, pull away slowly and if necessary, lean forward to prevent the front wheel from losing contact with the road surface.
Do you roll backwards on a slope? Brake in doses to prevent the front wheel from losing contact with the road surface.
The following accessories can adversely affect stability on a slope: rollator holder, stick holder, wheelchair holder or a loaded shopping basket.
Consult the Easy Rider Compact user manual for all safety measures when cycling with this trike. The manual can be found on the product page of the Easy Rider Compact under 'Price/Documentation'.
What if you suddenly have to stop on a slope?
It can happen that you cycle with your Easy Rider Compact on a slope and suddenly have to stop. In the article 'How do you turn a tricycle on a slope?' with video, you will learn how to safely turn a tricycle on a slope.
