Mobility ehf in Iceland was founded in 1985 and began selling Van Raam special needs bikes in 2017. Sigurdur Johannesson is the General Manager/owner and started working at Mobility ehf in 2020. Sigurdur is happy to tell you more about his company and the things that make Mobility ehf unique.

1. Why did Mobility ehf become a Van Raam Premium Dealer?

Mobility ehf focuses on bicycles and mobility devices for people with disabilities and we also rent out bikes. We are especially interested in devices which are different and allow for a broader range of users.

As a parent of a disabled child, we have been using an OPair 1 since 2013 and we love the bike. We now have a OPair 3 but still use the OPair 1 sometimes. We believe that Van Raam bikes are the best built bikes we have come across and we are proud to be in the Van Raam family.

2. How do you help customers who are looking for a Van Raam bicycle?

Customers can meet us in the showroom or we can bring the bike to the customer if they live in the Reykjavik area. We try to order our showroom bikes with most of the options available so that we have them on the bike.

After a test ride, we can give the customer a quote right away. If the customer is happy we order the bike, check it when it arrives and bring it to the customer where we adjust it to his/her needs.

3. How does Mobility ehf help customers who already have a Van Raam bicycle?

If the bike is under warranty we fix whatever breaks,if the bike is not under warranty we help the customer anyway we can to solve the problem.

4. What is your best experience of a customer with a Van Raam bicycle?

My daughter, Sunna, suffers from AHC which is a very rare neurological disorder and she has severe Dystonia where her legs and arms cramp. This is extremely painful and she has those episodes almost every day. When she is on the OPair she rarely needs rescue medication because being in the bike relaxes her so much that it works like a muscle-relaxing drug.

Sunna sometimes spends 4-6 hours on the bike in one day and honestly, I don’t know another person who spends as much time on a bicycle.

5. What makes Mobility ehf unique as a Van Raam Premium Dealer?

We are everyday users of Van Raam which makes it easy for us to convince others to start using Van Raam, also we provide personal service and we meet the client on his terms so for instance if the client is unable to meet us in our showroom we bring the showroom bike to the client.

We have an option of paying in instalments,up to 36 months.
